Greeting again friends, this week has gone so terribly fast and all I can recall is what we did last night so I’ll start there :)
Some of you may have heard of the Watoto Children's Choir touring around the place at the moment either from me telling you or by the ads on TV lately:
If you haven’t heard here's the deal straight from their website which you can check out later...
The mission of Watoto is to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders by
placing parentless children in families where the necessary love, care,
spiritual discipleship and physical needs are provided. Our goal is to equip
these precious children with the essential moral values and life skills that
will enable them to make a significant and lasting impact. (http://www.watoto.com/)
Last night we had the privilege of seeing them here in Mt Isa and more importantly we were able to be a blessing to them by being one of the host families even if only for the one night they were here (Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality Romans 12:13).
The concert was fantastic, it was held in the Mt Isa Civic Centre and the turnout was more than I expected considering it is an outright Christian event plus it was raining and freezing!

I loved seeing the children sing and dance with such enthusiasm after all they've all endured in their short little lives and doing it all for the Lord! They were a total joy to be around, full of love and gratitude at the smallest hint of hospitality we showed them.

All in all it was a very humbling experience and I can’t deny my tears when I think about all the trivial things I see as tribulations in comparison to theirs. If you have a chance to catch up with them in your home town or city I highly recommend that you do, it’s a great support to the Choir as well as the work that is being done in Uganda.
Carol, we sawa them in Rocky a year or two ago now and they were so joyful despite what they have been through. You are right it was a very humbling experience, and I would certainly love to go hear them again.
ReplyDeleteWOW - what an experience Carol! You are so fortunate to have that. They sound wonderful.
