Today was Mardi Gras night and as quoted in the Mt Isa paper a couple of weeks ago "the only gay thing about our Mardi Gras is the gaiety on the poeples faces as the floats come through" LOL.
We headed up to the startline for the float parade known as Mardi Gras with some friends after having homemade hamburgers for dinner. We drove part of the way and walked the rest of way (which was short on the way there but LONG on the way back!). Abby & Jesse who have become great friends in a short time insisted on holding hands as they usually do when we go out so it was only natural, but the hats just made it all the more cute.
Finally we found a place to sit and watch it all happen, the kids were in awe of all the stuf going on around them and probably all the noise too LOL!
After all the floats had gone through we headed inside through the multitudes of people to the shw part of the event- there was a long line for the bullpit events so we figure we'd do that tomorrw intead. Weeelll...we did one loop of the show and couldnt wait to get iut fast enough!
There was SOOOOO many poeple you couldnt move one way or another, and the dust oh the dust! After what seemed like forever we finally managed to get to a clearing we were glad to see it was the way out but first we spotted the pony rides where Jesse just had to have a go (he remembered them from the Mt Isa Show about a month ago) and he got his picture taken by a newpaper photographer so hopefully he'll make it into the paper :) I'll keep you posted! Then we bought our greasy chips and headed out the gates for the long walk back to the car...
Tomorrow is a new day and we plan to go back to the showgrounds, this time to the bullpit to view the actual rodeo and bullrides, we'll try and venture out into the rides part again if there aren't as many people so watch this space maybe for some more pics of our little cowboy :)
