~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The drive was a very long 13 hours drive for us but we had an overnight stay in Charters Towers after the first 8 hours. The night was a bit of a write-off as far as sleep goes because Lily (being overtired) decided not to let the rest of us sleep either but such is life and the next day was MUCH better. The kids amused themselves in the car...
and enjoyed the pitstops along the way...
Finally we arrived in our accomodation and it was fantastic! Everyone enjoyed the pool...
Mum stayed dry to take photos of course... not to mention that it has to be minimum 35°C for me to get even my toes wet, LOL!
During our stay in Cairns we went to Kuranda where Jesse was fascinated with the planewreck there in the rainforest...
and i was mesmerised by beautiful butterflies in the Butterfly Sanctuary
Lalo had a close encounter with the prettiest butterfly in the place...
but the Ulysses butterfly doesnt like to show it's pretty colours when it's sitting still and actually closes it's wings (so as not to attract predators i guess) so no amazing photos of this little beauty :(
We ended that day checking out the Venom Zoo...
Jesse was quick to point out to the lady there that this snake was 'tiny' in comparison to the other one he'd handled before (on the South coast a couple of years back!) LOL He's a regular little snake handler as you can see!
We were also blessed to catch up with the Piagno's on their farm, it's the middle of avocado season so after we were fed with a delicious lunch we were sent home with a BOXful of avos to bless others with...
and let me just tell you right now they are the best avo's i've EVER had!!!
While we were learning the process of packing and shipping avocadoes Jesse was off hooning around on a quad bike thanks to Crazy Uncle Joe...
He's still talking about how Crazy Uncle Joe told him he's going to take him on an even longer ride next time so I hope you're up for it Joe!
On the last day in Cairns we hit the waterpark
and playgrounds...
and just had a leisurely day on the Esplanade.
Eventually we reluctantly said goodbye to Cairns and made our way to Townsville where we stayed here...
If you look real hard you can see Lalo way up on the 10th floor waving.
The view was just amazing... We extended our stay by one night because we had stayed an extra night in Cairns, this way Jesse was able to enjoy this...That's him in the black rashy covering his mouth so he didnt swallow water and then feel sick at night LOL!
Last time Jesse went to Townsville with Lalo he wasn't game to get in the firing line of this bucket so this was great to see! I wonder if Lalo would be game to endure this much water being thrust upon him...
I won't show the aftermath of this one LOL!
We enjoyed our short stay on the strand and ate plenty of fish & chips and just enjoyed meeting the locals...
That's pretty much it in a very small nutshell, i'm sure i'll share more photos as i come accross them in the future :)
OOHHH!!!! I should also post about another highlight of this trip was celebrating my birthday half way through the holiday.The day began with showering me with pressies including beautiful bath bombs and chocolates of course and most unexpected was Lalo's gift...
Who would've thought that a comment i made MONTHS ago would stick in his mind for so long AND that this man of mine would have such good taste to choose such a stunningly beautiful delicate teaset??? He never ceases to amaze me even after more than 14years together (only 12 of those as his wife *wink*).
Can't wait to meet u guys there! looks like fun!!!
