The plan was to go to Cairns relax before the silly season, possibly pick up a second car for our family, pick up my brother to come and second shoot with me at a wedding (and help with the driving back) and then make it back via Karumba in time for said wedding. It kinda didn't go as planned but God knows best and this is how it unfolded...
Sightseeing in Cairns is always so nice and i got to have a good play with my new lens and camera...
Then we let the kids have a bit of a play
and did some exploring of the beaches around Cairns
Juan couldn't make it due to the dreaded uni exams & assignments but Tata took a leap of faith and decided to come instead of Juan... we made the mistake of telling Jesse a few days before and it was talked about EVERYDAY until finally it was time to pick up Tata from the airport. Boy was Jesse excited to show him his favourite part of Cairns (actually Kuranda to be precise) and just spend quality time with him... On the way to Port Douglas where we spent the last day before heading back to Mt Isa we saw a couple about to jump off a perfectly good cliff... Apparently the wind conditions just weren't quite right but we waited for about 1/2 an hour and they still hadn't jumped! On our way back there was no one there so we assume they jumped or went home LOL!
The trip back was interesting, we weren't able to pick up the car (but we did see it and it is now in our driveway after all) so i was squashed in the back between two car seats as we embarked on our journey north across the state...
We went past a huge windfarm...
...and this cute little town...
It's only cute cos it's my little niece's name ^_^
Then after driving through bushfires in the middle of no where we made it as far as Normanton before it got dark so Karumba will have to wait for another time. After the long drive home and a good night's sleep we showed my dad the sights
and Jesse managed to squeeze in one more story before having to board the plane back to Canberra...
A great time was had by all! I'll try post again soon with the photos of Jesse at his Kindy Graduation ^_^
Ohhhh I love these photos. I wish I was there WITH dad instead of here finishing assignments and studying :(
ReplyDeleteOh well... My father and I will have to take a trip up together at some stage to make up for it.
