Welcome to Sunday Gully (not Valley apparently) QLD...

Greetings again adoring fans, today’s post will consist of photos of our latest camping trip with the Layts. This family is but one of the families that is making out stay here in Mt Isa so much more than bearable. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t a bad town whatsoever but like they say “Life is like a good wine, better had with friends” LOL!

So anyways, we went to a place called Sunday Valley just over an hour from Mt Isa. We left on Friday afternoon close to evening really and arrived well and truly in the dark hoping the spot we had picked would look as nice in the morning. Fed the kids and put them to bed once the tents were finally set up and then it was time to relax and unwind to the music of cicadas and toads hopping around our camp!

Alison and I retired at a reasonable hour only to be kept awake by the constant chatter of the two dominant males who stayed up till some ungodly hour! And they say its women who talk a lot…

Saturday meant it was time for Linky’s birthday celebration; presents followed by playing, followed by cake of course.

The heat and flies was making Lalo do some very strange things throughout the weekend the rest of us coped.

Jesse of course had to copy and lazed around like Daddy too... Seeing as we were camping in a place with no amenities (I know what you’re thinking… but trust me we coped) Lalo found a way to bath Jesse like royalty! “Your Roman Bath awaits” I think were his exact words LOL! The other kids were shown the same royal treatment of course.

By Sunday the kids had finally found the water and we were too tired and relaxed to care about keeping them clean. It is said there are fresh water crocs around the place but no one actually sees them in these parts so after a lot of playing in the mud by the bank the two older ones made it in for a swim and then it was time to go home and get back to civilisation of toilets and showers. YAY!

  3. Love your tale of camping Carol and love the photos even more. Not sure that I could have been that close to the water if there was even a hint of crocodiles being found there. Must admit though camping is more fun when shared with friends.
